Trags AS is a Norwegian company building memory for AI agents. We make Poppy, a free, open source CLI that keeps memory on your own machine, and Trags, which carries that memory to every machine you sign in on. This page is what we believe, and how we hold ourselves to it.
What we believe
Your agents will change. Your memory should not.
Models improve, tools come and go, and you will switch providers when a better one arrives. The decisions and lessons your agents have learned should come with you. Trags is one store your agents write to and read from, whichever model you run and whichever machine you are sitting at.
Memory starts on your own machine.
Poppy keeps your memories in one file on your computer and works offline. Nothing leaves that file until you turn on sync. Delete the file and the local store is gone.
You decide what is kept, and it is never training data.
Poppy saves what you or your agent tell it to save. It only captures from your sessions on its own after you agree to that once, and you can switch capture off for any single project. On every plan, free or paid, we never use your memories, the embeddings derived from them, or your usage to train or evaluate models.
What we make
Poppy is the free, local-first CLI. Capture and recall from your terminal, and serve the same memory to every MCP agent on your machine. It works with eleven coding agents today, including Claude Code, Cursor and Codex.
Trags is sync and a dashboard. The same memories on every machine you sign in on, with provenance for each one.

- The name
- Trags comes from tragovi, the Bosnian word for traces.
- Where your data lives
- When you sync, your memories and account data are stored in the EU, in Frankfurt. The worker that scores your searches runs in Amsterdam and keeps nothing it is sent. Payments go through Polar, in the United States. The privacy policy lists every provider and its region.

Where we are going
Coding agents are where memory earns its keep first, so that is where we started. Next is team memory: one shared memory for a team's agents, scoped to the people you choose.
Install Poppy
We study how memory systems for AI agents should be evaluated. We run every memory system, our own included, through the same test loop, with the same model writing the answers, so the memory system is the only thing that changes.
Finding the right fact is one test. The question we are working toward is whether memory makes an agent better at its task.
None of this work uses your memories. We test on public test sets and on test data we build ourselves. We are writing this work up as a paper, and results will appear on this site once it is published.
